Should I buy boots in the chest or waist, fly fishing boots?
I'm in the market for a new pair of boots and trapped between the chest or the option waist. I always use boots in the chest, but you can see a great advantage to the waist waders flexibility and body temperature. The only drawback I can think of would be the few times I really need protection in the chest height. Looking to the Hellbender TOGG frog collection. They are reasonably priced and have good criticism. Currently I have Wardells and I have no complaint, but would like to try something new? Thoughts?
Definitely get chest waders. Unless you is one of those guys with a set of waders for each occasion, you must have chest waders – once you commit to a pair of pants to wade, then when you'll need the extra depth. I usually have my main boots up behind an adjustment. I have no set of hip waders for this current and a pair of orientation of the river and a set of chest waders of the lake. If I do not need the chest to fund, or if I start to overheat, I just pull down the top. Most chest waders can only pull up to the waist and worn as pants. Many are designed waders to be "convertible" in this way (even to the point of having zip-off components in the chest), but I would avoid any that are more expensive waders because this option.
